Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry or flatbread thawed if frozen
  • 2 ripe pears thinly sliced, ripe but firm
  • 4 oz Gorgonzola cheese crumbled
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup walnuts chopped
  • 1 handful arugula leaves fresh
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • black pepper freshly cracked, to taste

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Rolling Pin
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board
  • Parchment paper

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out puff pastry on lightly floured surface and transfer to prepared baking sheet. If using flatbread, place directly on sheet.
  3. Drizzle olive oil evenly over the surface and brush to coat completely.
  4. Arrange pear slices in slightly overlapping rows, covering entire surface with small border around edges for proper puffing.
  5. Scatter crumbled Gorgonzola cheese generously over pears, ensuring even distribution.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes until edges are golden brown and cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.
  7. Remove from oven and immediately drizzle with honey while flatbread is still warm.
  8. Top with chopped walnuts, fresh arugula, and freshly cracked black pepper before serving warm.

Notes

Choose ripe but firm pears for best texture. Use parchment paper to prevent sticking. Serve immediately while warm for optimal flavor and crispiness. Store leftovers in refrigerator for up to 2 days.
