Ingredients

  • 1 pizza dough store-bought or homemade
  • 8 oz hot Italian sausage cooked and crumbled
  • 0.5 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.25 cup pizza sauce
  • 0.25 cup honey at room temperature
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes optional
  • 0.5 tsp Italian seasoning optional
  • fresh arugula optional for topping

Equipment

  • Pizza stone or baking sheet
  • Large skillet
  • Rolling Pin
  • Pastry brush

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C). If using pizza stone, place in oven for at least 30 minutes. Cook sausage in large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking apart, for 5-7 minutes until golden brown with no pink remaining. Drain excess grease.
  2. Roll out pizza dough on lightly floured surface to desired thickness. Transfer to baking sheet or pizza stone. Brush with olive oil and pre-bake for 5 minutes until edges begin to firm up but center remains slightly soft.
  3. Spread pizza sauce evenly over pre-baked crust, leaving 1-inch border. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over sauce, then distribute cooked sausage and crumbled feta evenly.
  4. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes and Italian seasoning if using. Bake for 10-15 minutes until crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly with light golden spots.
  5. Remove from oven and cool for 2 minutes. Drizzle room-temperature honey evenly over pizza. Top with fresh arugula if desired, slice and serve immediately.

Notes

Always add honey after baking to preserve sweetness and prevent burning. Pre-cook sausage completely for best texture. Use pizza stone preheated for 30 minutes for crispiest crust.
