Method
- Add flour, baking powder, and pinch of salt to a medium bowl and mix well.
- Make a well in center of flour mixture and add cottage cheese. Mix with fork or rubber spatula until chunky dough forms.
- Turn dough onto well-floured surface and knead with hands for 1-2 minutes until semi-smooth ball forms. Add flour if sticky.
- Divide dough into 4 equal sections. Roll each into 6-7 inch log about ¾ inch thick, then connect ends to form bagel shape.
- Whisk egg with splash of water in small bowl. Brush egg wash lightly over each bagel and add toppings if desired.
- Preheat air fryer to 300°F. Spray or line basket with parchment paper.
- Place bagels in even layer in air fryer basket. Cook for 15-17 minutes until golden brown, checking at 10 minutes.
- Remove from air fryer and cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Oven method: Bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes. Store in airtight container for 5 days or freeze for 3 months. 15-minute cooling time is essential for proper texture.
